Overview
The Congenital Heart Centre at Blackrock Clinic has developed a strong expertise in complex cardiac surgery, using innovative repair and replacement techniques for structural valvular heart disease and cardiac failure.
The multidisciplinary team approach to pre-surgical review and surgical planning allows optimal planning of surgical interventions, thus providing excellent surgical outcomes.
On appropriate occasions a hybrid approach to treatment with cardiac catheterisation and surgery are used, in the modern hybrid operating theatre and catherisation laboratory.
Our congenital heart surgeon, Mr Nölke performs over 300 open heart surgeries every year covering the broad spectrum of congenital cardiac surgical conditions including bicuspid aortic valves, thoracic aortic aneurysms, atrial and ventricular septal defects, anomalous pulmonary venous drainage, Tetralogy of Fallot and Ebstein’s anomaly to name but a few.
His skills and regular performance of surgery for adult acquired conditions such as coronary artery bypass grafting, mitral repair / replacement, aortic valve replacement / repair and heart and lung transplantation ensures that patients have access to excellent surgery.
Mr Nölke is actively involved in result audit and partakes in the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland audit. http://www.bluebook.scts.org and https://nicor4.nicor.org.uk
